Shored

40”x30” Acrylic on Panel, 2023

$1050

Shored pulses with kinetic energy, channeling both chaos and containment. Bright neon lines and wooden beam-like forms intersect and radiate across the canvas, suggesting a structure hastily assembled or reinforced, perhaps, in a moment of emergency or transformation. Amid this energy, symbols float: ladders, eyes, circular motifs; each hinting at vigilance, ascent, or cycles of rebuilding.

The work plays with visual and psychological tension. Its vibrant palette of hot pinks, lime greens, electric blues; clashes and harmonizes within a moody violet ground, suggesting instability beneath a surface of constructed order. The central structure feels caught mid-collapse or mid-construction, drawing the viewer into a suspended moment of decision.

As with its companion piece Shoring, Shored investigates the concept of emotional and physical reinforcement. It explores what we do to hold ourselves, systems, relationships, together when the load becomes overbearing. The scaffolding becomes symbolic of a fragile grid holding back a flood of inner noise and outer pressure.

Paint drips, splatters, and jagged contours imply urgency, a kind of improvisational repair. And yet, there’s playfulness, a rhythm and spontaneity that reflects the human tendency to create even in the midst of disorder.

Shored invites viewers to consider their own internal support structures. What gets patched together when we’re under strain? What’s visible, and what remains hidden beneath the surface?

In this way, the painting functions as both personal reflection and universal metaphor: a vibrant meditation on resilience, breakdown, and the beauty found in holding things up; even when we’re not sure how long they’ll last.
