Shoring
40”x30” Acrylic on Panel, 2023
$1050
Shoring explores the tension between collapse and support; both structural and psychological. Vivid neon hues of pink, orange, and electric blue create a charged atmosphere, while intersecting linear forms evoke scaffolding, bracing, or fractured architecture. These skeletal shapes suggest a framework barely holding, inviting reflection on what it means to stabilize something under strain.
The title references the act of temporarily reinforcing a failing structure; an act that parallels the emotional scaffolding people construct during times of upheaval. The painting becomes a metaphor for resilience and fragility: the simultaneous need to hold together and the risk of falling apart.
Layered textures, erratic drips, and bursts of color create a sense of movement and instability. Sharp contrasts and gestural marks contribute to the feeling of an active, shifting space that reflects both external environments and internal states of mind.
This work occupies a space between abstraction and symbolism, drawing from architectural forms while resisting fixed interpretation. The composition asks the viewer to consider not only what is being held up, but why, and for how long.
Shoring is part of a larger inquiry into unseen supports; mental, emotional, or physical, which allow us to persist, adapt, and rebuild. It invites contemplation of the temporary fixes we rely on, and the quiet strength required to keep them in place.
